British Open Submission Fighting Championships
15 October 2006
Seventeen members of The Combat Academy travelled to Worcester to compete in the British Open Submission Fighting Championships, and returned with a total of six gold, five silver and one bronze medal.

Grapple & Strike 2007
Grapple & Strike Wales have just announced a new format for amateur fighters in 2007. Although the rules will be the same as the league, fighters will now be matched 0 - 5; 6 - 11; and +12 fights. Fights will be 2 x 4 minute rounds and will be held in a boxing ring.

Seni: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Results
May 6 2006
Dan Hayes collected a silver medal in the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu championships held at the Seni martial arts show in Birmingham, 6 May 2006. Competing in a junior super-fight Dan put in a good performance in his first ever Brazilian Jiu Jitsu event, before having to submit to a strangle. Andrew Dudley, Neil Preedy and Bram Roberts all defeated their first opponent before losing in the next round, with all of their fights going the distance. Dan Buckley, Chris Konieczny, Pat Baker and John Downes all put in good performances but unfortunately went out in the first round.

Braulio wins at Pan Ams
Braulio took the gold medal in his weight category defeating Eduardo Telles with an arm-bar in the final. In the absolute category he took bronze after losing on points to Xande in the semi-final.

Unless someone drops out we will not be taking Senior entries on the day.
Entries have been received from The Combat Academy, Falcons, Gracie Barra Swansea, Gracie Barra Bristol, Carlson Gracie London, Hereford Judo Club, Reading Judo Club, Gracie Barra Birmingham, Mill Hill Ju Jitsu London.
The majority of categories are looking good with at least 7/8 competitors and with a mixture of competitors from different clubs.
We will be using the pool or double elimination system so everyone will get at least two fights

Combat Academy coach Dave Coles has made a promising start at round 1 of the 2006 Amateur Grapple & Strike championships. Dave defeated two opponents inside the distance to take maximum league points.
