In the Junior feather-weight category Kieron Twigg (Combat Academy) recorded three wins to take the Gold medal with club-mates Lisa Jones taking the Silver and Jack Wheadon-Hill the Bronze, both Lisa and Jack were taking part in their first competition
At the end of the Junior Light-weight category three Combat Academy fighters all had recorded 2 wins and so had to fight each other again. After the second time of trying Jacob Spink took the Gold, Elliott Volpe the Silver and Sarah Jones a hard earned Bronze in her competition debut.
Despite giving away upto 5kg National Champion Ollie Bohn of The Combat Academy showed good skill in all the fighting ranges to take the Gold medal in the junior middle-weight category, with club-mate Katrina Walton taking Silver in only her second competition. Connor Gill made it a clean sweep for the Academy taking the Bronze.
In the Junior light-heavy category Becky Hayes (Combat Academy) demonstrated excellent ground-fighting skills en-route to the Gold medal with club-mate Ross Hutchinson taking the Silver and Tryston Wilkins of Falcons the Bronze.
In the Junior Heavy-weight category Combat Academy fighter Daniel Hayes recorded three wins to take the Gold medal with Sam Harris of Falcons the Silver and Barnaby Flynn (Combat Academy) the Bronze.
Matthew Roberts of Bromsgrove TJK showed good skill in all the fighting ranges to secure three wins en-route to the gold medal in the Intermediates category. Despite being the lightest competitor in the category, Combat Academy fighter Dan Hayes put in an excellent performance submitting Murray Andrews of Butlers Spirit Combat with a choke and club-mate Emma Baker to secure the Silver with Murray taking the Bronze.
Nigel Simmons of Gwent Police and Simon Edmunds of Falcons are both Amateur MMA veterans, and this experience showed as they took Gold and Silver medals respectively in the Senior Under 78kg category. Simons brother and Falcons club-mate Carl took the Bronze.
In the Senior Open Weight category Combat Academy fighter Chris Konieczny defeated all four of his opponents, including Judo Brown Belt Scott Taylor of Reading Judo Club, to secure the Gold medal. John Downes (Combat Academy) took the Bronze with Joe Link of Butlers Spirit Combat taking the Bronze.
No Gi Submission Fighting
Matthew Roberts of Bromsgrove TJK collected his second Gold medal of the day after defeating Murray Andrews and Emma Baker in the intermediate category with Murray taking the Silver and Emma the Bronze.
Eight competitors battled it out in the under 78kg category with Paul Reed of the Bristol Trojan club taking the Gold medal, Nigel Simmons of Gwent Police the Silver and brothers Simon and Carl Edmunds (Falcons) sharing the Bronze.
Club-mates Richard Willis and Aydin Mallender of the Fighting Fit Academy fought their way to the final of the under 86kg category, with Richard taking the Gold. Steve Cunningham of the Cheltenham Range Fighting club took the Bronze.
Alan Stockdale of the Fighting Fit Club recorded three wins to take the Gold medal in the under 95kg category, Finaly Anderson of the Bristol Trojan Club took the Silver and Tan New of Newport Vale Tudo had four fights to take the Bronze.
In the over 95kg category Brazilian Jiu Jitsu 4 stripe Blue Belt, Jason Zepp
who is currently training at The Combat Academy, showed excellent skills en-route to the Gold medal. Combat Academy fighters Dan Buckley and Chris Konieczny took the Silver and Bronze medal respectively.
