2019 Promotions following the British Open.

December 2020

Dear potential new students,

due to the current government restrictions, we are not taking any new students into our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) classes at the moment.

BJJ is very different to most other martial arts. In a typical class you will be shown a technique, for example how to escape from a hold. After practicing the move with a cooperative training partner, your partner will then try 100% to stop you escaping the hold. Additionally every one of our classes has at least 30 minutes of full on sparring. Both of the above involve close physical contact and simply cannot be practiced whilst maintaining social distancing.

Unlike many traditional martial arts, in BJJ we do not have katas or patterns where you practice moves by fighting imaginary opponents. The use of training dummies is being utilised at some BJJ schools but this is very unrealistic and is not a true reflection of what BJJ training is like at Equipe TCA.
Imagine paying for swimming lessons but the lesson doesn’t actually involve you going into the water, that’s pretty much the same as training BJJ without any contact or sparring.

When the time is right, we look forward to welcoming you to our club and giving you a real experience of what Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is about.

Best Regards

Equipe TCA Coaching Team.
