Open Mat 6

Having competed in the KSBO ground-fighting championships held in Nottingham on Saturday 25th January, the next day I continued my journey north to Manchester with my training partner Simon Small, to take part in the SFUK Open Mat 6.

A packed Open Mat 6
The first one-hour sparring session
Levo's technique workshop
Jonny Dale testing my guard
About 150 people turned up at the Sugden Sports Centre with about 100 actually on the mats.

Open Mat brings together fighters from Submission fighting,  Wrestling, Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, Karate, Thai Boxing, and many
other fighting styles.
The session consisted of 1 hour of sparring, 2 hours of techniques (or carry on sparring) and 1 hour of sparring to finish.

The best thing about OM is there is no attitude, you are free to do as much or as little as you want. Fighters exchange ideas and techniques and usually e-mail addresses after.re a bit apprehensive about going to OM, don't be. Not once did I see, or come accross anything that was OTT.
If you are a beginner, and are a bit apprehensive about going to OM, don't be. Not once did I see, or come accross anything that was OTT.

If you're an experienced fighter; get up there, share your knowledge, have 4 hours of training and and pick up some new techniques; all for £3:00.....
