Coles and Small on opposite ends of the draw sheet, fought their way through the opposition in the Ju Jutsu Kumite, scoring points with ease to gain their places in the final.

In the submission grappling, Small made light work of his opponent by out positioning, and finishing his semi final opponent with and arm lock to secure his place in the final.

Coles with one of the most spectacular throws of the day, lifted his opponent (some 20kgs heavier) horizontal above his head before slamming him to the mat and finishing him with an armbar. A further victory on points secured his place in the final.

With Coles and Small reaching both finals, they had achieved their goals of a clean sweep and bringing home a maximum medal haul. With true camaraderie and club spirit the medals were shared with Coles taking the Submission Grappling title and Small taking the Ju Jutsu Kumite title.
