National Ju-Jutsu Kumite Council
2003 Northern Ireland Championships

Simon and Dave

Belfast was the host city for the recent National Ju Jutsu Kumite Council's Northern Ireland Championships. Dave Coles and Simon Small, two of Herefords Leading Martial Arts Instructors, from The Combat Academy and Hereford Contact Karate Club flew out to Belfast on the trail of victory.

Dave Coles who has held the title of all the other NJJKC events needed a gold medal to complete the Grand Slam, he was not disappointed and made light work of his opponents in the Mens -95kg division, to take the gold and Northern Ireland title.
Simon Small also made the clean sweep by defeating his opponents without losing a single point against him, also securing himself the Northern Ireland title and gold medal in the Mens Open weight.
Dave Coles still on a high decided at the last minute to enter the mens Heavy Weight Submission Grappling challenge. Dave again made his way to the final with ease. The final was very close and after five minutes of fighting, the contest was level and had to go into extra time. A further minute into the fight Dave managed to grip his opponent and throw him to the mat to earn himself a second gold medal.
