If you are not happy with this move, please let us know and we will issue a refund.

For athletes who are not listed, a refund will be issued.

If there is a category that you would like to enter please let us know.

The absolute categories will be open to all (not just medal winners), so you do have the option of fighting in these.

WEIGH-IN TIMES:

The Hereford Open
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships
Sponsored by
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________
PLEASE ENSURE YOU READ THESE ADDITIONAL NOTES

Please report to the weigh-in area at the stated time in your Gi and Belt.

You cannot weigh-in early.

Please ensure you are wearing footwear up to the scales.

The time you need to report to the mat will be displayed on the day, it will be approximately 5 - 60 minutes after the weigh-in.

Brackets will start approximately 5 - 30 minutes after the report time.

Some categories have 20+ competitors, therefore although your category may be called, it could be some time before all fighters in those categories get onto the mat.

You may notice that some categories share the same weigh-in times. These are generally the smaller categories that we run concurrently to give competitors sufficient rest between fights without having to leave the mats empty. Most categories (groups of categories) will take 1.5 - 2 hours to complete.

If you are not sure about making weight you can check your weight early. If you are over we will offer to move you up a weight (provided that bracket is not full or has not already started), or you can try to make weight for the official weigh-in time. If you fail to make weight at the official weigh-in time, it may be that the next weight category is full, or has already started and we would not be able to move you up.

If you make weight on a test weight, you will still have to weigh-in and make weight at the stated time for your category.

Waiting to Fight
The time you need to report to the mat will be displayed on the day. At this time you must remain in the warm-up area behind your mat. The table staff will not run around the centre looking for you. If you are not in the correct area when called, your fight will go down as a loss.

How the Categories will be run

All competitors will get a minimum of 2 fights so do not disappear if you lose your first fight.

2 in a category: you will be given the option of a straight final or fighting the best of three.

3 in a category: You will fight in a 'round-robin' (league).

4+ in a category: You will fight using the repechage system. This means you will get a minimum of two fights. See here for an explanation as to how the repechage works http://www.thecombatacademy.com/HowTheRepechargeWorks.html

The medal presentations will take place shortly after your category has finished.

'The Respect Rule.'

This event has a zero tolerance policy regarding inappropriate behavior by coaches, parents/guardians, spectators and competitors.

All in attendance must show some restraint when their students or team mates are fighting. There will be competitors and spectators of all ages at this event and we are here to set an example.

Any swearing, inappropriate gestures, violence (towards person or property) or berating the officials (regardless of any decisions they make) will not be tolerated.

If this happens, the referee/organiser has the right to disqualify that competitor, or to ask the person concerned to leave the area. If those concerned do not comply with the referee/organisers request the competitor will be disqualified from the event.

If a coach, parent or team mate encroaches onto the mat, or past any barriers that are in place, man handles an official in any way, or refuses to follow requests made by an official, that person will be asked to leave the venue and the whole team may not be permitted to take any further part in the competition.
